Kaizer Chiefs to play for R34.6 million

Posted on November 4, 2025

Kaizer Chiefs have been set in somewhat of a heavyweight Group D of the CAF Confederation Cup (CAFCC).

The names include Egyptian giants Zamalek as well as Al-Masry from the same nation, plus Southern neighbours Zesco United from Zambia.

The Glamour Boys sealed the group stage qualification after beating Angola’s Kabuscorp in the first round qualifiers before finishing the mission against the Congolese side AS Simba.

Following Monday’s group stage draw, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) also took the moment to highlight this season’s prize money for the champions.

According to CAF, the winners of this year’s CAFCC will pocket USD 2 million, which equates to R34.6 million. Losing in the final will be compensated with USD 1 million (R17.3 million).

“The winners of this year’s title will take home USD 2-million in prize money with the runners-up to receive USD 1-million,” CAF stated.

Finishing in the top two of the group (quarter-final qualification) will guarantee teams USD 550 000 (R9.5 million), while going out in the group stage (position 3 or 4) will have a prize of USD 400 000 (R6.9 million).

“The teams that advance from the group are guaranteed a minimum of USD 550,000, while the teams that finish third and fourth in their pool receive USD 400,000,” the note added.

In the meantime, Kaizer Chiefs have Betway Premiership business to take care of. Amakhosi will welcome Orbit College FC to the FNB Stadium on Tuesday, 4 November at 19:30.
