Kaizer Chiefs starting 11: How Velebayi fits in

Posted on August 15, 2025

Asanele Velebayi is Kaizer Chiefs’ brand new attacker. The 22-year-old winger from Cape Town Spurs officially signed for Amakhosi on a long-term deal.

The move comes after a ruling by the PSL Dispute Resolution Chamber declared him a free agent, allowing Kaizer Chiefs to secure his services without a transfer fee.

Velebayi’s versatility allows him to play on either wing or in an attacking midfield role. Given the current squad, he is expected to slot in on the right wing, replacing Gaston Sirino, who, at 34, is set to become an impact player from the bench.
