Kaizer Chiefs have bolstered their squad with the acquisition of defenders Thabiso Monyane and Paseka Mako on free transfers, following their release from Soweto rivals Orlando Pirates.
The signings mark Amakhosi’s latest moves in the transfer market as they look to rebuild under new coach Nasreddine Nabi. Monyane, a 24-year-old right-back, and Mako, 28, who can play as both left-back and center-back, bring valuable PSL experience to Naturena.
Both players became available after Pirates opted not to renew their contracts at the end of last season. Their move across the Soweto divide adds another chapter to the fierce rivalry between the two clubs.
Chiefs fans will hope the new defensive reinforcements can help shore up a backline that conceded 30 goals in 30 league matches last campaign. The club is expected to announce more signings as they prepare for the upcoming 2024/25 DStv Premiership season.
