‘Kaizer Chiefs said I was old’

Posted on September 17, 2025

Bradley Grobler had a night to remember against Kaizer Chiefs at FNB Stadium, firing Sekhukhune United to a 3-1 victory in the Betway Premiership.

For the 37-year-old marksman, the performance was sweeter, not just for the goals, but for the personal vindication against Kaizer Chiefs.

Grobler scored twice and provided the assist for Babina Noko’s third goal, earning Man of the Match honours.

BRADLEY GROBLER REACTS TO BRACE AGAINST KAIZER CHIEFS

“It’s feels great I gotta be honest,” Grobler told SuperSport after the game. “I haven’t trained in the last four days. I’ve had throat infection; chest infection and I arrived at camp late yesterday and played.

“Sometimes it’s nice scoring against teams that told you that four, five, six years ago you were old and past your prime so it’s good to be scoring against these teams.

“I think tonight was a big performance. A performance that probably gonna make people take us a bit more serious but we don’t want to put that pressure on ourselves. Obviously, we want to go on and win every game. We’d like to fight for the league and tonight I think a big stepping stone even though we’ve got a long way to go.

“There’s nothing against the team [Kaizer Chiefs], like I said, the nice thing it’s a team that six, seven years ago told me I was old and past my prime, I must be honest that feels nice [to score against them],” the Johannesburg-born striker added.

With those strikes, Grobler has now taken his tally to 123 goals in the Premier Soccer League, edging ever closer to the top of the all-time scorers list:

1. Peter Shalulile – 130

2. Siyabonga Nomvethe – 129

3. Bradley Grobler – 123

4. Daniel Mudau – 110

5. Mabhuti Khenyeza – 110

6. Manuel ‘Tico-Tico’ Bucuane – 104

7. Collins Mbesuma – 103

8. Khama Billiat – 102

9. Lehlohonolo Majoro – 91

10. Wilfred Mugeyi – 91.
