Kaizer Chiefs players link up with local cricket club

Posted on December 22, 2025

Kaizer Chiefs’ Miguel and Silva, alongside former Amakhosi striker and assistant coach Shaun Bartlett, linked up with the SA20’s Joburg Super King at their base.

While the plan was to enjoy a net session, Johannesburg’s summer rain season had other plans, forcing the event into an indoor interaction.

KAIZER CHIEFS STAR INACIO MIGUEL VOWS TO BECOME A JOBURG KINGS SUPPORTER

Bartlett said it was a real thrill to meet the JSK players face-to-face. He applauded Amakhosi and JSK for teaming up and giving him, Miguel, and Flavio the unique opportunity to connect with their fellow sportsmen.

Some of the JSK stars included Faf du Plessis, Wiaan Mulder, Nandre Burger, Akeal Hosein and Richard Gleeson.

For Kaizer Chiefs’ Miguel, the close-up look at life inside a professional cricket setup was priceless. The Amakhosi skipper admitted the visit left an impression, both on and off the field.

“It was a good experience learning how the vibes in the training camp work. It was a great experience and it was nice to meet the players,” Miguel told the club’s website.

“I am planning to go to their first game at home on 1 January. I will be there supporting them. They have a new supporter here. I wish them all the best and hope they have a great season,” the Angolan added.

Guinea-Bissau international striker, Da Silva, said he also enjoyed getting a taste of cricket for the first time, adding he has also found a cricket team to follow.

“For me, it was a good experience to learn about a new sport,” the Kaizer Chiefs attacker said. “I shared some ideas with the JSK players and am hoping to go to their game on 1st January. Also crazy for me to learn how popular cricket is,” he added.

AFCON 2025 BREAK

In the meantime, Miguel and Silva will be seen on the football grass at the end of January after Afcon 2025 in Morocco. Amakhosi are currently placed in fourth spot of the Betway Premiership with four points behind log leaders Orlando Pirates.
