Kaizer Chiefs Player Ratings vs Sundowns: Who FIRED, who FLOPPED

Kaizer Chiefs drew against defending BetWay Premiership champions, Mamelodi Sundowns.

Kaizer Chiefs were held to a goalless draw against reigning, defending BetWay Premiership champions, Sundowns at the FNB Stadium on Wednesday evening.

So, let’s take a look at which Amakhosi players stood out and who underperformed against the Brazilians.

CHIEFS PLAYERS WHO FIRED AGAINST SUNDOWNS

Glody Lilepo – 7/10

Lilepo was a livewire on attack for Chiefs. The Congolese striker tested Williams from range and kept the Sundowns defence guessing with his runs on and off the ball. This is one of his most promising performances since joining Amakhosi.

Paseka Mako – 8/10

Mako was like a solid brick wall at the back for Chiefs. He put a stop to several Sundowns attacks. Moreover, Mako knew when to make overlapping runs on attack, too. So, he may come from Orlando Pirates. However, he played with his heart on his sleeve for Amakhosi against Sundowns.

Sibongiseni Mthethwa – 7.5/10

Mthethwa was cool, calm, composed and collected in the Amakhosi midfield. He read play like a book – knowing when to counter and play the ball back. Also, he held his own in the midfield, controlling the midfield for Chiefs against Sundowns.

WHO FLOPPED (UNDERPERFORMED) AGAINST THE BRAZILIANS

Wandile Duba – 5.5/10

The young Chiefs attacker lacked creativity and his usual energetic spark. He struggled to create shooting opportunities and was shut down by the Sundowns defenders.

Mduduzi Shabalala – 6/10

Shabalala had a quiet evening by his standards. He did not do much wrong. The Chiefs midfielder was well-marked and failed to impose his creativity and skill on the Brazilians.
