Kaizer Chiefs name CAF squad, no mention of Nabi

Posted on September 20, 2025

It is quite bizarre that Kaizer Chiefs have still not confirmed – or refuted – the various reports that coach Nasreddine Nabi has parted ways with the club.

The Kaizer Chiefs’ travelling squad has already departed for Angola on Thursday to take on Kabuscorp SCP in the first-leg of the 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round, scheduled for Saturday afternoon.

When naming a 22-man squad for this fixture, it was certainly noticeable that there was no mention of Nasreddine Nabi.

In all previous team announcement press releases, it’s standard practice for Chiefs to mention that Nabi had selected the team along with the technical team. On this occasion, it was only mentioned that the technical team had picked the squad.

Perhaps that is reading too much into it, but all signs suggest that Nabi’s time with the Glamour Boys has officially come to an end, and now it just remains to be seen when an announcement will be made.

Kaizer Chiefs Travelling Squad List:

Goalkeepers:

  • Brandon Petersen
  • Bruce Bvuma
  • Fiacre Ntwari

Defenders:

  • Zitha Kwinika
  • Aden McCarthy
  • Inacio Miguel
  • Reeve Frosler
  • Bradley Cross
  • Paseka Mako

Midfielders:

  • George Matlou
  • Siphesihle Ndlovu
  • Nkosingiphile Ngcobo
  • Sibongiseni Mthethwa
  • Thabo Cele
  • Mfundo Vilakazi
  • Mduduzi Shabalala
  • Gaston Sirino

Forwards:

  • Glody Lilepo
  • Pule Mmodi
  • Ashley du Preez
  • Flavio Da Silva
  • Wandile Duba

No sign of Nabi

The CAF Confederation Cup clash between Kaizer Chiefs and Kabuscorp SCP will kick off at 17:00 (SA Time). The match will be shown live on SABC 2, as well the Kaizer Chiefs YouTube Channel.
