Kaizer Chiefs legend makes damning Pitso Mosimane assessment

Posted on October 13, 2025

A former Kaizer Chiefs star has given the Amakhosi hierarchy something to think about.

The Glamour Boys have struggled for consistency over the last decade.

In fact, it’s been the worst decade in the club’s glorious history. How much of the responsibility actually lies on the coaching staff’s shoulders though?

Kaizer Chiefs have switched coaches throughout the last decade, but the changes have yielded little results.

Kaizer Chiefs legend hits out at club bosses

Kaizer Chiefs legend Joseph ‘Banks’ Setlhodi has urged the club’s management to introspect.

According the Setlhodi, the Amakhosi’s woes aren’t as a result of poor coaching.

If anything, the club legend believes management are at the root of the problems at Naturena.

“If you are blind and leading a nation, that nation will fail because you see nothing,” Setlhodi told FARPost.

“I don’t think Kaizer Chiefs have good leaders to address what is happening. Everybody can see where the problem is at Chiefs. They don’t fix the problems. The question is, why? Why.”

Pitso Mosimane wouldn’t last at Naturena

Setlhodi further went on to claim that not even Pitso Mosimane can fix the crisis at Naturena.

The legendary South African coach wouldn’t last at Naturena as management wouldn’t sign the players a coach like Mosimane will demand.

“If Pitso goes to Kaizer Chiefs, he will demand players. If they don’t give him what he needs, he will leave. Pitso Mosimane won’t want to work with average players. You can’t have players earning R50 000 but still need to be taught how to trap the ball.”
