Kaizer Chiefs legend accused of abusing South African players

Posted on September 29, 2025

Former Kaizer Chiefs wizard Junior Khanye has found himself in hot water with SAFPU.

The South African Football Players Union have come out demanding change in the way Khanye operates.

Khanye is a senior analyst for Diski TV, however he’s never shy to voice his true opinion on performances.

And now, SAFPU believe Khanye’s actions are harming the wellbeing of footballers in the country.

Former Kaizer Chiefs star urged to apologise

In light of recent comments made against Mamelodi Sundowns star Jayden Adams, SAFPU have made a strong statement against Khanye.

The union are demanding a public apology be made from Junior Khanye. Not just to Adams, but all footballers Khanye has hit out against in the past.

They further asking publications to tighten up on ‘abuse’ against players. So what exactly did the former Kaizer Chiefs dribbling maestro say about Adams?

“One may argue that the tactics don’t suit him [Adams] but that jersey is heavy when you don it there are expectations,” Junior Khanye said as quoted by IDiski Times.

“If they are being honest, Adams is not giving Sundowns anything. He is struggling to live up to expectations; it would be better if they loaned him back to Stellenbosch to be closer to home.”

Who is Junior Khanye?

Junior Khanye is a former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder. The 40-year-old was born in Daveyton. He also played for Malanti Chiefs, Maritzburg United and Platinum Stars.

He has become notorious for expressing strong and harsh views on footballers in South Africa.

Now, SAFPU are accusing the former Kaizer Chiefs man of taking it too far.

Back in 2021, Khanye lashed out at Thulani Hlatshwayo. Many believed at the time that his opinion was flawed by a personal agenda against the former Bafana Bafana captain.
