Kaizer Chiefs keeper recovering in hospital

Posted on November 12, 2025

Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari has been spotted in hospital after completing surgery on his shoulder.

The 26-year-old Rwandan international joined Amakhosi from TS Galaxy in July with big expectations.

A regular for Rwanda and one of the standout keepers in the 2023/24 Betway Premiership, Ntwari arrived tipped to make the No.1 jersey his own.

FIACRE NTWARI UNAVAILABLE FOR KAIZER CHIEFS

Ntwari’s career in Soweto has been marked by setbacks from the beginning. He made just five appearances in the 2024/25 season, with a few nervy displays denting his early promise. Soon after, he slipped behind Bruce Bvuma and Brandon Petersen in the goalkeeping order.

His last outing came on 5 October against Stellenbosch FC in the Carling Knockout last-16 clash, a day that ended in controversy. With the game goalless and heading to penalties, Kaizer Chiefs’ goalkeeper coach Ilyes Mzoughi tried to substitute Ntwari for Bvuma, but the Rwandan refused to come off. The decision shocked the bench and nearly 40,000 fans inside the stadium.

Kaizer Chiefs eventually lost the shootout 4–3, with Ntwari saving one spot-kick while Sage Stephens stopped two for Stellies.

SURPRISE SILENCE FROM THE CLUB

Since that day, Ntwari hasn’t featured again for Amakhosi. Bvuma has reclaimed the backup role to Petersen, while young academy graduate Naphtali Mokoena has been promoted to the senior squad.

What has surprised many, though, is the club’s silence. Kaizer Chiefs have not released any statement regarding Ntwari’s injury or the surgery, leaving fans to piece together the story through social media posts.
