‘Kaizer Chiefs is a code 14 truck’

Posted on February 15, 2026

Kaizer Chiefs have crashed out of the CAF Confederation Cup at the group stage following a 2-1 defeat to Zamalek SC in Ismailia, Egypt.

Amakhosi went into the clash knowing that at least a draw would have been enough to secure a place in the quarterfinals. But they failed to complete the task on the grass.

KAIZER CHIEFS OUT OF THREE CUP TOURNAMENTS

The result means Kaizer Chiefs have now been eliminated in the early rounds of both the Carling Knockout and the Nedbank Cup, missing out on three potential trophies this season.

Club icon and former goalkeeper Brian Baloyi believes this will go down as a massive missed opportunity for the current crop of players.

“You know, for a while, this Chiefs team was able to stomach the pressure and go on and, you know, win the 1- nil, 1- nil,” Baloyi said on the Soccer Beat podcast.

“But at the end of the day, as I said before, when they look back as players, they’re going to look at it, and it’s going to be an opportunity missed.

The Alexandra-born legend said the CAF competition, the league and the Nedbank Cup were all still wide open, presenting a real opportunity for the team to make an impact, but they failed to take advantage of those chances when they presented themselves.

“But I think, for me, how I sum it up when I look at it, I mean, it really, really hurts. To watch a game like this.

“And for me, at the end of the day, when I look back, when I look at it, for me, it’s Kaizer Chiefs, the club itself is irresponsible, irresponsible in what way?” Baloyi added.

QUESTIONS OVER KAIZER CHIEFS CO-COACHES

“Kaizer Chiefs is a code 14, a big truck, and you can’t take a code 14 truck and give a driver who has a code 8 to drive such a big truck.

The former Bafana Bafana number one said the club is putting the lives of many people on the road in danger, adding that fans carry so much hope for the team.

“As a driver, you know, you can watch a truck driver doing what he does, you can also take the truck and move it, but you can’t drive it all the way from Durban to Cape Town. It’s impossible. And this is what’s happening,” Baloyi added.
