Kaizer Chiefs in Talks to Sign Winger Asanele Velebayi

Posted on June 7, 2025

Kaizer Chiefs have opened negotiations to sign winger Asanele Velebayi, who is currently a free agent after Cape Town Spurs were relegated last season.

The 22-year-old attacker, known for his pace and creativity, could bolster Amakhosi’s attacking options as they look to rebuild their squad. Velebayi became available after Spurs’ drop from the top flight, with several clubs reportedly monitoring his situation.

Chiefs are believed to be leading the race for his signature as they seek to strengthen ahead of the new campaign. No deal has been finalized yet, but discussions between the parties are ongoing.

Velebayi’s potential arrival would provide fresh options out wide for Chiefs, who are aiming to improve on last season’s disappointing finish. The young winger showed flashes of promise despite Spurs’ struggles, making him an attractive prospect on a free transfer.

Fans will be watching closely as negotiations progress, hoping the club can secure the talented youngster’s services ahead of their rivals.
