Kaizer Chiefs favourite admits he’s been poor

Posted on October 1, 2025

Kaizer Chiefs have started the season in encouraging form. However, some existing players have battled to refind their form.

21-year-old Wandile Duba started the first four games of the season but found himself out of the picture in recent encounters.

Will he rediscover the form which saw him bag four goals in 20 league appearances for the Glamour Boys last term?

Kaizer Chiefs vs AmaZulu: Date, kickoff time, injury news

Kaizer Chiefs star Duba promises more

Kaizer Chiefs striker Wandile Duba admits that the start of the 2025-2026 season hasn’t been his best work. However, the 21-year-old vows to keep working hard. He started the first four matches of the league but has only made one substitute appearance since, and was excluded altogether last time out in a 1-1 draw against Gallants.

“I didn’t start the season very well. That is why the coach ended up taking me out of the team,” said Duba.

“I wasn’t giving him what he wanted. I am still working on myself, on being better and on getting back into the starting lineup.

“Every coach needs a striker who scores for his team. Flavio (Da Silva) and Khanyisa Mayo got on the team and scored. I wasn’t doing that. Tactically, I have been doing well, but it is just a matter of getting the nod (again).”

Kaizer Chiefs face a familiar face next

Duba’s will hope to get another chance to impress on Wednesday against AmaZulu, coached by ex-Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane.

“Every team, when they play Chiefs, they give their best. It will not be an easy game,” he said.

Injury update from Cedric Kaze

Chiefs assistant coach Cedric Kaze sounds hopeful that Ethan Chislett could debut against Usuthu on Wednesday night.

“Ighodaro is injured, but the medical department promised us [his imminent return]. He started this week to train with the group without contact,” Kaze said as per FARPost.
