Kaizer Chiefs fans to wait for 15 days

Kaizer Chiefs fans were just starting to enjoy the ride, five games unbeaten.

The FIFA international break has arrived at the least ideal time. The Amakhosi faithful must wait 15 days before action returns against TS Galaxy at FNB Stadium.

For Kaizer Chiefs, the timing is frustrating. Nasreddine Nabi’s side created rhythm and new signings were beginning to click.

FIFA BREAK AFTER KAIZER CHIEFS’ GREAT START

The unbeaten streak has given fans reason to believe a genuine turnaround is on the cards. Kaizer Chiefs have sparkled, scoring five goals and conceding zero.

  • 2-0 win over Stellenbosch FC
  • 1-0 win over Polokwane City
  • 1-0 win over Richards Bay
  • 0-0 draw with Mamelodi Sundowns
  • 1-0 win over Golden Arrows.

The FIFA international break won’t erase that progress, but it does put momentum on hold.

Nevertheless, Kaizer Chiefs supporters will be buzzing to see the club’s young superstar, Mduduzi Shabalala, in Bafana Bafana colours.

South Africa’s FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers will be against Lesotho on Friday, 5 September, and against Nigeria on Tuesday, 9 September. Both games will kick off at 18:00 at the Free State Stadium.

Hugo Broos’ Bafana side are leading the group with five points ahead of Rwanda in second place. At least one victory from the two games against Lesotho and Nigeria could seal a place at next year’s World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico.
