Kaizer Chiefs fans in tears after first league defeat to Sekhukhune

Posted on September 16, 2025

Kaizer Chiefs suffered a 3-1 defeat to Sekhukhune United at the FNB Stadium on Tuesday night.

A brace from Bradley Grobler and another goal from Thabang Monare gave Babina Noko all three points away from home to extend their lead at the top of the Betway Premiership.

Coming into the match, Amakhosi were the only side in the league that had not conceded a goal but it only took Bradley Grobler five minutes to score against the Soweto giants. A loss for Chiefs sees them remain in third place after six matches.

Kaizer Chiefs fans upset after heavy defeat

Amakhosi needed a win to go top of the log for the first time however Sekhukhune had other ideas. After the match, Chiefs fans took to X (Twitter) to vent their frustration.

“The Ox and Ndlovu pair is where I thought we had lost the game. The signs were there but luckily we managed to go into the half-time with a level score. An instant change 2nd half could have completely changed the direction of the game, we were late and Sekhukhune capitalized,” @aey_dear tweeted.

“This defeat hurts because we lost it from the coaching staff not because of players. The previous starting 11 players why dismantle that combination? I get injuries ok but those not injured ke? Na maan stop fixing what is not broken,” @TboyMP tweeted.

“Amakhosi ajabulile. Nabi football back to default settings 😂 ziyakhala e fnb stadium,” @Piwes__ tweeted.

Kaizer Chiefs will be in action on Saturday against Kabuscorp in the CAF Confederations Cup.

Can Amakhosi bounce back?
