Kaizer Chiefs DDC announce Manyana signing

Posted on January 20, 2026

Kaizer Chiefs’ DDC have added Manyana following the 20-year-old defensive midfielder’s loan spell at Cincinnati in the USA.

The shuffle follows after Amakhosi’s midfielder and captain, Thulani Mabaso, was promoted to the Betway Premiership team.

XHOSA MANYANA MOVES TO SOWETO

The move was announced by the young Glamour Boys’ social media account, confirming that the deal is a loan agreement.

“Kaizer Chiefs are pleased to announce that Xhosa Manyana will be joining our Reserves team on loan from Cape Town City until the end of the 2026 season,” the note said.

“We welcome Xhosa to the Amakhosi family and look forward to seeing him develop, make an impact on the field, and represent the Kaizer Chiefs badge with pride, discipline, and professionalism.

“We wish him all the best for his loan spell,” Amakhosi added.

Meanwhile, Manyana will have his work cut out in breaking into the Kaizer Chiefs DDC midfield. Pheko Phago is the starting maestro in the number 6 role, while the dynamic Vicky Mkhawana plays in the number 8 role.

KAIZER CHIEFS’ 2025/26 DDC SEASON

The Amakhosi side, playing as the defending champions, enjoyed a strong campaign, highlighted by a 10-match unbeaten run and five straight wins. That run included an impressive 2-0 victory over Mamelodi Sundowns last weekend.

Those results have lifted Amakhosi to second place in the national U23 standings, behind leaders Orlando Pirates.

Recent performances, including a 4-0 win over Richards Bay on January 12, have underlined their resilience and consistency, firmly placing them among the title contenders ahead of their next fixture against Marumo Gallants on January 25, 2026.
