Kaizer Chiefs coach spills the beans on Baartman’s situation

Posted on October 24, 2025

It’s never easy making the move to Kaizer Chiefs FC. More so when you’re just a teenager!

Luke Baartman joined the Glamour Boys at the beginning of the season with high expectations.

Given the Amakhosi’s struggles in front of goal last season, the Motaungs went all out on signing attackers.

In fact, Baartman was joined by Etioso Ighodaro, Khanyisa Mayo and Flavio Silva as new strikers at Kaizer Chiefs for this season.

But with the number of additions, game-time is now a serious challenge for the teenage striker.

Kaizer Chiefs to take major Baartman decision

According to co-coach Cedric Kaze, Kaizer Chiefs are contemplating taking a surprise decision on 19-year-old striker Luke Baartman.

The coach himself has confirmed that the club are looking at sending Baartman to their Diski Challenge team.

“Yeah it is. It’s something that we are considering, and as well to help our DDC team to get to be better. It’s something that we are considering,” Cedric Kaze said when asked whether Baartman will be demoted, as quoted by KickOff.

Amakhosi DDC team struggling

The Amakhosi reserve team and currently struggling in the Diski Challenge. As defending champions, much was expected of Vela Khumalo’s side this season.

Things however have tough for Kaizer Chiefs, who have picked up just two wins from their opening seven matches.

Baartman will undoubtedly give them a boost in the league. However, a player of his quality playing in the reserve league will undoubtedly spark controversy.
