Kaizer chiefs chase R29 million foreign striker

Kaizer Chiefs have won their first two Betway Premiership matches, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t keen to sign more players.

So far, the club’s pursuit of 24-year-old Sundowns man Etiosa Ighodaro hasn’t borne fruit.

What’s the latest on the Nigerian marksman?

Xmas comes early for Chiefs?

FOUR Chiefs players with uncertain futures

Ighodaro in limbo as Kaizer Chiefs circle

Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi is a big fan of Etiosa Ighodaro. The Sundowns man is in limbo after returning to Chloorkop from a loan spell at AmaZulu. The German website transfermarkt values him at €1.4 million, or R29 million. Obviously, Chiefs wouldn’t need to stump up that much to land their man.

“Let me just say that if an opportunity presents itself that is worth it, we will take it,” Chiefs assistant coach Cedric Kaze said.

“We still have a foreign spot, but we will not fill it up just because of filling it up.

“If an opportunity is worth it, we will probably take it,” he added.

Du Preez could leave to make way

Ashley Du Preez was a substitute in Chiefs’ opening day success over his former club, Stellenbosch. The versatile attacker could find himself down the pecking order this season.

“There is a team in Austria who are interested in Ashley Du Preez. The team is in the market for an attacking-minded player,” an insider told Soccer Laduma.
