Kaizer Chiefs announce 23 players to Egypt

Posted on February 12, 2026

Kaizer Chiefs are 90 minutes away from CAF Confederation Cup quarterfinals qualification this weekend.

Standing in the way are Egyptian giants Zamalek SC on Saturday, with kick-off set for 18:00 at the Suez Canal Authority Stadium in Ismailia, Egypt.

KAIZER CHIEFS ANNOUNCE 23-MAN SQUAD TO ISMAILIA

Soon before departing the OR Tambo International Airport on Wednesday night, Amakhosi announced the travelling list via social media. Notable absences include Inacio Miguel and Luke Baartman, while the Nigerian striker Etiosa Ighodaro remains out injured.

Kaizer Chiefs’ travelling squad: Brandon Petersen, Bruce Bvuma, Takalani Mazhamba, Thabiso Monyane, Dillan Solomons, Paseka Mako, Given Msimango, Zitha Kwinika, Nkanyiso Shinga, George Matlou, Thulani Mabaso, Lebohang Maboe, Siphesihle Ndlovu, Pule Mmodi, Asanele Velebayi, Mduduzi Shabalala, Mfundo Vilakazi, Gastón Sirino, Wandile Duba, Glody Lilepo, Khanyisa Mayo, Flavio Da Silva and Ashley Du Preez.

CAF CONFEDERATION CUP GROUP D

Kaizer Chiefs top the group with 10 points, ahead of Zamalek (8), Al Masry (7) and ZESCO United (3). Ahead of kick-off against Zamalek, Amakhosi need just a draw to march into the final eight.

Kaizer Chiefs’ journey in this Confederation showdown has delivered both glory and frustration over the years. Their golden chapter came in 2001, when they claimed the African Cup Winners’ Cup title with a 2-1 aggregate victory over Angola’s Inter de Luanda across two legs.

However, sustained success on the continent has proved elusive. In 2014, the Soweto giants saw their campaign ended by ASEC Mimosas in the playoff round, and in the 2018/19 season, they were knocked out in the second qualifying round following a defeat to ZESCO United.
