Junior Names Three Coaches Worth Credit For Nkota’s Rise

iDiski TV analyst Junior Khanye believes former Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro and the side’s development coaches Joseph Makhanya and Mandla Qhogi deserve credit for Mohau Nkota’s rise.

The 20-year-old winger was promoted to the first team at the start of last season where he impressed across all competitions. Nkota scored seven goals with four coming in the CAF Champions League while the others in the Betway Premiership and had five assists on his way to being snapped up by Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettafiq.

The former Kaizer Chiefs winger said Riveiro should be credited for promoting Nkota and giving him game time while those that guided him in the junior ranks should also not be overlooked.

“We should complement Riveiro for giving this boy a chance,” said Khanye on iDiski TV.

“I’m complimenting him because he was competing with a high-profile team like [Mamelodi] Sundowns, a team where there are expectations with players that are so expensive. Players that cost around R65m or even R20m and used players who were promoted from development.

“Also well done to Dukuduku [Joseph Makhanya] and Mandla “Ncane” [Qhogi], he is very underrated in South Africa. Ncane understands identity. The first time I watched Pirates’ DDC side was when he was coach, he plays with wingers. He brought the culture.

“Well done to him wherever he is.”
