At the centre of Orlando Pirates’ draw with Siwelele stood goalkeeper Ricardo Goss.
The Soweto giants dominated large stretches of their Betway Premiership clash at the Orlando Amstel Arena. Chances came and went, crosses kept flying in, and shots kept arriving, but it was Goss’ day to shine.

ORLANDO PIRATES HIT A WALL
By the end of the match, the Bafana Bafana goalkeeper had produced 11 saves, earning the Man of the Match award and helping Siwelele escape with a 1-1 draw.
Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou could only marvel at what unfolded. “We have to give credit to the goalkeeper, he was Man of the Match, we never had a goalkeeper today, we have Jesus Christ in the goal today,” Ouaddou told journalists.
“He saved everything, so we have to give him credit, and I don’t know if I have to reproach something on my players, they gave everything to get shots on target, create chances but we had a wall in the goal,” Ouaddou said.

ABESLAM OUADDOU CREDITS HIS TROOPS
While Tshepang Moremi eventually beat him in the second half, Goss had already done enough to protect the valuable point that Vincent Pule’s first-half goal had earned.
“I think he saved his team with a fantastic game, for us the most difficult thing in a game is to create chances, especially against a team trying to save their position in the PSL, there are not many teams, if they play like that, that will beat Siwelele,” the Orlando Pirates mentor added.
Goss now has nine clean sheets in 19 league games and has conceded just 13 goals this season. On Saturday afternoon in Soweto, though, one stat mattered more than all the others.
Siwelele’s next assignment sees them host Betway Premiership newcomers Orbit College in Bloemfontein on Sunday, 22 March. On the same day, the Sea Robbers will be on the road, travelling to Mbombela for a clash against TS Galaxy.
