Jessica Motaung: Kaizer Chiefs Will Spend Big on Right Players

Kaizer Chiefs’ marketing manager Jessica Motaung has dismissed suggestions that the club is unwilling to pay for top talent, declaring Amakhosi are ready to invest heavily in their squad.

“We pay a lot of money for players. I’m actually quite surprised by these claims – it’s nonsense,” Motaung stated at the Toyota Cup launch. “When you look at our budgets and our recent investments in both players and technical staff, it’s clear we’re serious about building a competitive team.”

The Chiefs executive also questioned the South African transfer market’s valuation of players: “We need to ask if current negotiations and price tags are fair. Our industry must evaluate itself.” Her comments come as Chiefs pursue several high-profile signings, including Portuguese-based defender Nkanyiso Shinga, demonstrating their financial commitment to returning the club to its former glory.

Motaung’s remarks suggest Chiefs will continue being major players in the transfer window as they aim to close the gap on Mamelodi Sundowns.
