It’s now Orlando Pirates’ title to lose, but…

Posted on February 4, 2026

Orlando Pirates can see the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. However, there’s a spanner in the works thanks to Kaizer Chiefs.

Orlando Pirates claim three more precious points

The league leaders solidified their position at the summit of the Betway Premiership with a mature 2-0 win away to AmaZulu. The goals came courtesy of Relebohile Mofokeng and an own goal from Usuthu goalkeeper Darren Johnson. The Sea Robbers are three points clear of Sundowns and five clear of Chiefs with exactly half of the campaign to go.

Kaizer Chiefs can contend for the title

Chiefs have a busy schedule in the second month of 2026. They’ll be hoping that Rushwin Dortley plays some part. The 23-year-old has yet to feature in the 2025-26 campaign. Even without Dortley, Chiefs have six consecutive clean sheets across all competitions. They haven’t conceded since November 29th against Zamalek. There might be a genuine fight for the title this season, something we haven’t been able to say for quite some time. Chiefs have a busy February schedule, which could make or break their title aspirations:

  • Wed 4 Feb: Stellenbosch vs Kaizer Chiefs (DHL Cape Town Stadium, 19:00, Nedbank Cup R32)
  • Sun 8 Feb: Kaizer Chiefs vs Al Masry SC (18:00)
  • Sun 15 Feb: Zamalek vs Kaizer Chiefs (18:00)
  • Wed 18 Feb: Siwelele vs Chiefs (19:30)
  • Tue 24 Feb: Chiefs vs Stellenbosch (19:30)
  • Sat 28 Feb: Chiefs vs Orlando Pirates (FNB Stadium, 15:30)
