Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Dominic Isaacs has questioned the situation involving the club’s former head coach Nasreddine Nabi.
The Tunisian coach has not been with the team since last month; however, no official statement has been made by Amakhosi lately about the coach’s whereabouts. According to reports, Nabi has left Chiefs, but both parties are still negotiating a settlement regarding his exit.
In his absence, Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze have taken over as co-coaches this season.
“There has been significant improvement at Kaizer Chiefs compared to the past two years; you can see the progress,” Isaacs told KickOff.
“If Chiefs had won on Sunday, no one would be complaining. It’s not normal for any club to have uncertainty regarding the head coach position,” he added.
Ex-Chiefs defender worried about former club
Isaacs felt the team needed a local coach or ex-player in the technical team. He said it was unusual for a big team to have a technical team without a local coach who understands South African football culture.
“The sooner they reach a decision and clarify this confusion, the better it will be for the club. My primary concern is that we don’t have anyone on the bench who understands the culture of Kaizer Chiefs.”
“It’s unusual for Kaizer Chiefs not to have a South African or one of the club’s legends working alongside the technical team and learning from the head coach. They have always done that in the past,” Isaacs added.
Without Nabi, Kaizer Chiefs reached the second round of the CAF Confederation Cup, where they will do battle with Simba in the coming weeks. Having bowed out of the Carling Knockout, Amakhosi’s realistic chance of winning a trophy this season is to claim the CAF CC or retain their Nedbank Cup trophy.
