‘If you can’t beat Chippa, who will you beat?’: Ex-Chiefs star slams Amakhosi

Posted on December 4, 2025

Kaizer Chiefs failed to close the gap on rivals Orlando Pirates following their disappointing draw against Chippa United on Wednesday evening.

Amakhosi fired blanks at the Nelson Mandela Stadium after a poor display. The draw sees them drop to fifth place in the Betway Premiership and now trail the Buccaneers by five points after 12 matches.

Former Chiefs winger Junior Khanye felt both teams were poor on the night and the game deserved a draw.

“If you can’t beat Chippa, who are you gonna beat? Everyone is picking up points for Chippa. This season, they said they wanted to challenge for the league after signing so many players, irrespective of them being free agents,” Khanye said on iDiski TV.

“The game deserved a draw. Whether he is there or not, it’s the same if I want to be honest. They need to get quality in the midfield.”

Chiefs fail to beat Chippa, slip to 5th

Amakhosi co-coach Khalil Ben Youssef felt his team had plenty of opportunities but failed to convert.

“Congratulations to Chippa, they had a good structure and were fighting for every challenge,” the Chiefs coach told SuperSport TV.

‘For us, there is no excuse, we had a lot of opportunities. We have to continue to work to correct the same problem. Every time we get into the last third (of the pitch) and don’t score,”  Ben Youssef said.

Chiefs fail to build on momentum against Chippa

A draw sees Chiefs slip to fifth on the log and will need to win their next match if they are to get back into title contention. Amakhosi started the season with three wins, but poor form saw them pick up just two league wins from their last seven matches.

Can Amakhosi get back to winning ways and fight for the league?
