Hunt Reacts To Carling Exit

Durban City head coach Gavin Hunt has reacted to being eliminated from the Carling Knockout Cup.

The Citizens suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of the Natal Rich Boyz on Saturday afternoon at uMhlathuze Sports Complex in Richards Bay.

Hunt expressed his disappointment after the game, saying they couldn’t be sharp in front of goals despite creating numerous opportunities.

“We’ve had bad defending, it’s not lack of playing, mobility or touch,” said Hunt.

“In the first half of the match, we went [into the box] how many times there? Just got to make a right connection or pass and score.

“We had so many chances but couldn’t make the right connection or pass. We had to play the ball behind them or around them and we couldn’t do that, that’s what upsets me.”

When asked if the team’s Carling exit was a blessing in disguise due to a lightened schedule, the coach said, “No, no, no, it’s not a blessing in disguise, we want to play more games.

“So, we gonna have a period now where we don’t play for two weeks. It’s disappointing, you wanna play more. The more you play, the better.”
