Hunt On Whether Mashego Is Eligible To Face Sundowns

Posted on September 20, 2025

Durban City will face Betway Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns without their new signing Terrence Mashego due to loan clause, head coach Gavin Hunt has confirmed.

The Citizens recently brought the defender on board on a season-long loan from the Brazilians, in a move to get more playing time.

The KZN side will travel to Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium on Saturday, 20 September to face off against Sundowns.

According to City head coach Hunt, Mashego, who made his debut against Siwelele on Tuesday, will not be playing due to a loan agreement between the two clubs.

“I don’t think so yeah, there you go,” said Hunt.

Durban City will be looking to extend their winning streak after beating Siwelele 1-0 in the midweek at Chatsworth Stadium. After six matches, they are in fourth place with 11 points.

Meanwhile, the Tshwane giants will be aiming to return to winning ways after drawing 1-1 with Marumo Gallants on Wednesday.
