Durban City coach Gavin Hunt wouldn’t say much about his potential reunion with striker Zakhele Lepasa, saying he has left the matter of the player’s pursuit in the hands of management.
Hunt has spoken earlier how he wanted to sign the former Orlando Pirates man with an offer being tabled by City, but nothing concrete has come out of that situation.
Lepasa and Hunt worked together at the now defunct SuperSport United where the coach helped the forward rediscover his form while on loan and also made it into the senior national team.
The 28-year-old is currently a free agent, and Hunt was asked if he has given up on securing him and this how he responded.
“I let the management handle it,” said Hunt when asked about Lepasa.
“I’m not getting involved. I can only do what I can do.”
Meanwhile, Hunt’s City went into the FIFA international break in sixth position on the Betway Premiership log with eight points after suffering their first defeat of the season away at Sekhukhune United.
The former Kaizer Chiefs coach said he’s hoping to use the break to try and beef up the squad.
“We all know we need to certainly get another one or two in” added Hunt.
“We’ve got 17 outfield with three keepers. So you need to get one or two obviously in certain positions. We know that, we’ve known that since the start of the season but obviously free agents.
“There’s a lot of things we need, let’s not kid ourselves. Yes obviously I’m disappointed with the result [vs Sekhukhune] because we expected the defense has been good the last four games. Our goalkeeper hasn’t made a save in four games.”
