Hunt Expresses Delight At Danie Craven Return

Posted on February 18, 2026

Stellenbosch FC head coach Gavin Hunt has highlighted the importance of picking up points at home with a return to Danie Craven Stadium since 24 September 2025.

The return of Danie Craven comes at the right time for Stellenbosch as they aim to fight their way up the league table.

The Cape Winelands outfit have been playing their home games at Athlone Stadium, DHL Stadium and some at Moses Mabhida Stadium due to the unavailability of Danie Craven.

Hunt will experience the Danie Craven Stadium crowd for the first time as the Stellies head coach when they face struggling Magesi FC on Wednesday night.

The four-time league-winning mentor has thus emphasized the importance of gunning for maximum points as they sit in a precarious position following what has been an unusual dismal campaign so far.

“It’s important to be back home, we very happy to be back home, our home supporters and I am looking forward to it. I am really excited,” Hunt told Stellenbosch media team.

With both sides fighting to move away from relegation zone, Hunt aim this clash as the one they should extra mile about.

“Because of where we are and where they are in the league, it’s important for us to try get away from where we are it’s not gonna be easy because we have few catch up games like three games behind everybody.

“So, it doesn’t mean there’s points guaranteed we still need to get points certainly at home we need to make it count and be on the front foot, play with good energy and good purpose,” he added.
