Tickets for the highly anticipated Soweto derby between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates at FNB Stadium on Saturday, 28 February 2026 have officially sold out.

Kick-off is at 15:30.

Demand for the fixture was overwhelming, with tickets snapped up in record time both online and at retail outlets, underscoring the enduring popularity of one of South Africa’s biggest sporting events.

Tickets ranged in price from R120 to R320.

The match will be the first of the two Soweto derby league matches this season, with the second clash scheduled for 25 April.

Impressive league form

Both teams have shown impressive league form this season and the match will go a long way to determining the winner of the title.

Kaizer Chiefs have also impressed in continental competition, enjoying a solid run in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Supporters who have secured tickets are encouraged to arrive at the stadium early to take part in pre-match activations and entertainment planned by Kaizer Chiefs and their sponsors.

Early arrivals will also stand a chance to win prizes on the day.

Fans without tickets have been urged to watch the match from home or at approved venues.

Authorities have advised supporters not to gather around the stadium precinct without valid tickets, warning that security will be on high alert to ensure safety and crowd control.

Atop the standings

Kaizer Chiefs are in third place with 30 points after a similar number of matches played.

Defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns separate the Soweto giants with 32 points to date.

Impressive in defence

Both Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs have been impressive in defence in particular this season, with the Buccaneers conceding just five goals in those 15 matches, while Amakhosi have seen their defence breached on six occasions.
