‘He Can Play Any Position’ – Kaze On Chiefs Star

Posted on February 3, 2026

Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze has heaped praise on midfielder Lebohang Maboe, who’s been in impressive form lately.

The 31-year-old joined the Soweto giants at the start of the season after leaving Mamelodi Sundowns, having had a loan spell at SuperSport United in the last round of the previous season.

Arriving at Chiefs, he had to regain fitness first and Maboe initially struggled for minutes at Naturena but has since become a regular.

He has featured nine times this season across all competitions.

Kaze says Maboe has an “unbelievable football IQ” and believes the 31-year-old can play any position and still be productive.

“About Maboe, he has an unbelievable football IQ, he’s a player that can play any position,” said Kaze.

“He can play number six, number eight, number ten, he can play higher, even if you want, he can play as a winger.

“He knows how to find those spaces between people, he knows how to find those spots, half spaces and he’s accurate in front of the box.

“He has a very good and accurate shot. He’s a hard worker and it’s a very good thing to have him.

“He has experience in the [CAF competition], he advises the young players and his teammates.”
