‘He brings more than goals to Orlando Pirates’: Ex-Chiefs star on Makgopa

Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Lehlohonolo Majoro has praised Orlando Pirates forward Evidence Makgopa’s work-rate.

The Buccaneers striker has often been criticized for his lack of scoring over the years but Majoro feels ‘Ngwana Sesi’ brings more to the team than just goals.

This season, Makgopa has yet to find a goal but has had some solid matches especially against Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 semi-final.

“With Makgopa, he’s tried and tested at Orlando Pirates. Most people don’t understand how Makgopa plays. However, I say there’s a lot that Makgopa brings to Orlando Pirates when he plays. It takes a person who is really passionate about football and someone who sees football with a certain eye, and the effect of Makgopa being part and parcel,” Majoro told FARPost.

Majoro says Makgopa does a good job for Orlando Pirates

The ex-Chiefs striker, who also had a stint at Pirates, says Makgopa links well with other attacking players in the team.

“Makgopa’s hold-up play allows the likes of Relebohile Mofokeng and Patrick Maswanganyi to come and link up with him. He also makes runs behind because there are players like Oswin Appollis and Tshepang Moremi, who have speed.

“The runs that Makgopa makes upfront draw the attention of the defenders to go there and open those spaces that Orlando Pirates want to exploit,” Majoro added.

Should Makgopa start matches for the Buccaneers?
