Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Morgan Gould has explained why he calls Sekhukhune United the Paris Saint Germain of South Africa.
Babina Noko were promoted to the PSL’s top-flight in the 2021/22 season and have established themselves as one of the most stable teams in the league.
Throughout their time in the top-tier league, their recruitment strategy is focused on bringing in seasoned players.
In their current squad, they have the likes of Linda Mntambo, Daniel Cardoso, Miguel Timm, Thabang Monare, Keletso Makgalwa and Bradley Grobler, among others.
Gould has dubbed Sekhukhune the ‘PSG of the PSL’, saying despite their ability to acquire quality players, the club has not yet won a major trophy since being promoted to the top-flight.
“Sekhukhune, I call them the PSG of South Africa because they sign top quality players, but they haven’t gotten that trophy to say this is what we have in our cabinet,” Gould told iDiski Times.
“It’s like PSG, they have only won that [UEFA] Champions League. And that’s to them and the owner of PSG, that says, this is what I was looking for.
“And I think also, when it comes to the Maladji family, that’s the trophy that they need to put in their cabinet and say, these are all our signings that we’ve been making.
“The remedies finally come to good use, but it’s only time or time.”
