Gould On MTN8 Final – ‘There Will Be A Surprise’

Posted on September 13, 2025

Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Morgan Gould has shared his perspective of what might transpire in the MTN8 final this upcoming weekend.

Orlando Pirates and Stellenbosch will face off in what will be a repeat of the last season’s top eight final where the Buccaneers emerged victorious.

They will meet again on Saturday at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit with kick-off time set for 18:00.

Gould says the upcoming match will be a different affair from last year’s meeting. He highlighted that both teams have undergone some personnel changes, especially Pirates, who have even brought in a new coach, which will make a notable difference.

He cautioned Stellenbosch against approaching the game with a mindset of avenging last year’s loss as it could work against them.

“Yeah, definitely, it’s going to be a totally different game. There’s going to be a surprise because we don’t know who’s going to win it. That’s the surprise,” said Gould.

“And if you look at it and I like what coach Steve Barker says, yes, it’s a repeat of last year’s final, but it’s not in any way.

“Yes, they’ve got a new coach, they’ve got new players, new combinations are coming together, you know, so they need to approach it wisely. They need to be very cautious.

“If they’re going to go with their time to revenge, they’ve lost it already.”
