Good news on Kaizer Chiefs attacker

Posted on October 28, 2025

Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze has shared some welcome news on Glody Lilepo.

The Congolese star raised alarm for Amakhosi supporters and the technical staff when he limped off injured during the 3-0 win over AS Simba in the CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday.

According to coach Kaze, Lilepo’s injury was not as bad as initially expected.

KAIZER CHIEFS ATTACKER GLODY LILEPO AVAILABLE FOR SELECTION AGAINST DURBAN CITY

The 28-year-old former AS Vita, Mbabane Swallows, Al-Hilal and Valenciennes FC attacker will make the trip to KwaZulu-Natal to face Durban City in the Betway Premiership on Friday at the Moses Mabhida Stadium at 19:30.

Lilepo scored his second goal of the season against Simba, adding to his first against Kabuscorp in Angola.

The Congolese star, who joined Kaizer Chiefs in January from the French side Valenciennes FC, was Amakhosi’s top goalscorer last season with 10 goals in 33 games.

Chatting to the media at Dobsonville, co-coach Kaze, who currently shares the dugout with Khalil Ben Youssef, said the injury wasn’t serious. “We will have to discuss with the doctors tomorrow, but it was a knock which I think that he shouldn’t be very bad because if it was muscular injury that would be another issue,” Kaze told the media.

The Burundian tactician added that the early signs were positive and hinted at Lilepo’s return by Friday. “But I think it’s a knock probably one or two days ice. I think he should be ready to go on Friday against Durban City,” he added.

DURBAN CITY IN THE BETWAY PREMIERSHIP

Friday night’s game against the Citizens will be Kaizer Chiefs’ 10th league game of the season. The Phefeni Glamour Boys are in 4th position with 16 points, while Gavin Hunt’s City are fifth with 15 points.

Durban City, the club formerly known as Maritzburg United, are one of the new kids on the Betway Premiership block, joining fellow newcomers Orbit College FC. Durban City won promotion after lifting the Motsepe Foundation Championship with 58 points from 30 games, while Orbit, who finished second with 53 points, moved up the Premier division via the Relegation/Promotion play-offs.

Durban City have been calling Chatsworth Stadium home this season, but Friday’s clash shifts to the Moses Mabhida Stadium, a call made to fit Kaizer Chiefs’ ever-growing fan army in eThekwini.
