Gavin Hunt returning to PSL football

Posted on December 24, 2025

Former Kaizer Chiefs and Durban City head coach Gavin Hunt could soon make a return to the Betway Premiership.

Ex-Kaizer Chiefs boss Gavin Hunt set for Stellenbosch move

According to iDiski Times, Gavin Hunt could soon become head coach of Stellenbosch FC. The Winelands club are without a coach, while Hunt was recently sacked by PSL newcomers Durban City.

“Former Durban City and SuperSport United head coach Gavin Hunt is among the leading candidates to succeed Steve Barker at Stellenbosch,” the report says.

“Given the precarious league position, just three points off the relegation zone currently occupied by Chippa United, experience in the league is considered crucial for the successor. Hunt has emerged as the primary target.”

Bafana beat Angola to start AFCON on a winning note

South Africa claimed a 2-1 win over Angola in their AFCON 2025 opener thanks to goals from Orlando Pirates winger Oswin Appollis and ex-Pirates man Lyle Foster. Buccaneers attacker Tshepang Moremi, a second-half substitute, also had the ball in the net on 51 minutes, but VAR ruled the goal out for offside. Hugo Broos’ men are next in action against Egypt on Boxing Day, with kickoff at 17:00 SA time. There, they face the prospect of tussles with Liverpool legend Mo Salah and Manchester City’s new attacker Omar Marmoush. Here are their two remaining group fixtures:

Best Kaizer Chiefs XI aged 25 or younger

Molefe; Monyane, McCarthy, Dortley, Cross; Shabalala, Vilakazi, Duba, Velebayi; Baartman, Ighodaro

Meanwhile, the GLARING issue with this XI is that there are no holding or central midfielders.
