Patrick Fisher has completed a move to TS Galaxy after a surprise exit from Cape Town City.
The 22-year-old defender, who cut his teeth in the Cape Town Spurs (Ajax Cape Town) academy before moving across town to City, looks set to join Galaxy after what can only be described as a shock exit from the Citizens.
Fisher had spent the past four years at City, but despite flashes of promise, he struggled to nail down a regular starting role — featuring in just 23 Betway Premiership matches during that period.
Ironically, he had only put pen-to-paper on a new deal earlier this year, but following the club’s relegation to the Motsepe Foundation Championship, he was sacrificed by being retrenched as part of cost-cutting measures. Fisher was one of the few City players with experience in the second tier, having played 16 times for Spurs in 2020/21.
As first reported by SABC Sport, Fisher, who celebrates his 23rd birthday in October, signed on the dot with the Rockets which could prove to be a shrewd piece of business — a chance to pick up a technically gifted player who still carries the potential that once saw him tipped as a future star.
For Fisher, it represents a fresh start, an opportunity to revive his career and prove that the early hype surrounding his name was no fluke.
