Gabriel Reveals Richards Bay’s Carling Objective

Posted on October 25, 2025

Richards Bay FC coach Ronnie Gabriel has revealed the club’s objective in the Carling Knockout Cup.

The Natal Rich Boyz will take on Durban City in the quarterfinal KZN derby clash on Saturday, 25 October at the uMhlathuze Sports Complex at 3 pm.

Gabriel says they are expecting a tough clash against City, who have had a good start to their debut season in the top-flight.

He also revealed that one of their objectives this season is to reach the semifinals.

“We’re expecting a tough encounter come Saturday,” said Gabriel in the club’s media open day on Thursday.

“It’s not gonna be an easy home game, however, we’ve got our own supporters to please.

“We have our own mandate and objectives for the season. And going into the semi-finals is one of our objectives.

“We will be coming all out for this fixture. We have prepared well, our group is looking well, in good spirit, the excitement is there and we want a victory on Saturday.”

In the past two seasons, Richards Bay were only eliminated in the semifinals in this competition.

“I think we speak about that [reaching semi-finals twice in a row] in training that we have done it before and we are capable of doing it,” he added.

“It’s motivates us enough, I think the Carling Cup also gives the players the opportunity to win R100 000 for Man of the Matches awards. That’s also a motivation.

“We want to continue where we left off last season.”
