Orlando Pirates currently have four players sidelined due to injuries as they prepare for their anticipated clash with Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday evening.

The players unavailable for selection are Tapelo Xoki, Thabiso Lebitso, Selaelo Rasebotja, and Sihle Nduli.

Midfielder Thalente Mbatha was doubtful for Wednesday’s match after not participating in the game against Marumo Gallants on Saturday.

However, the Buccaneers did not mention him on their website, implying he will be available for selection.

Orlando Pirates without key players for Sundowns clash

With a six-point lead over their rivals, Pirates are considered slight favourites going into this midweek encounter.

The two teams have faced each other three times already this season, and these matches have been closely contested. In the MTN8 semifinals, the Buccaneers advanced to the final after a penalty shootout, having drawn 2-2 on aggregate.

Their league encounter at Loftus Versfeld also ended in a stalemate, with Cemran Dansin scoring a stunning goal just before halftime to earn the visitors a point.

Over the past three seasons, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns have met a total of nine times across various competitions, with each team recording one outright victory. The most recent match took place at FNB Stadium, where a quick brace from Relebohile Mofokeng led the Soweto Giants to a 2-1 win in March of last year.

What time is the Orlando Pirates v Mamelodi Sundowns kickoff?

The match kicks off at 19:30 and will be televised live on SuperSport PSL and SABC 3. A win for Pirates will put them nine points clear however defeat will see Masandawana close the gap to just three points with a game in hand.

Can the Buccaneers seal another win?
