The football fraternity is mourning the tragic loss of former Warriors and Orlando Pirates striker, Tendai Ndoro.

According to Soccer Laduma, the Zimbabwean-born star has passed away at the age of 40.

TENDAI NDORO DIES AT 40

The exact cause of his death is still unclear, though reports indicate he had been battling health issues earlier this year.

In May 2025, he underwent successful surgery to remove a tumour under his armpit, which doctors confirmed was unrelated to diabetes despite earlier speculation.

At the time, Ndoro shared a video update from the hospital, reassuring fans that his condition was not as serious as many had suggested.

“Hello guys, I’m okay. I’m in the hospital, undergoing treatment for a tumour that developed under my armpit. It’s not diabetes. I’m sick, yes, but it’s not that serious,” he said.

After the operation, Ndoro confirmed that it was successful. He also thanked God for guiding him through his recovery.

“Congratulations to myself for the successful surgery I had this afternoon. It went well; the tumour in my hand was removed. Glory to the Almighty God for keeping us alive,” he said.

TRIBUTES AND CONDOLENCES POUR IN ON X AFTER TENDAI NDORO’S PASSING

Messages of tributes and condolences are pouring in on X following the tragic news of his passing.

@IbhudaYabo60880 wrote, “Rest in peace, Tendai Ndoro. Your talent, passion, and presence on and off the pitch touched so many. Heartfelt condolences to the Ndoro family during this difficult time. May you find strength and comfort in the memories shared.”

@CdeNgpmaNeHosho wrote, “Heartbroken by Tendai Ndoro’s passing. A warrior who gave us unforgettable moments. Condolences to the family, fans, and the football fraternity. Zimbabwean football has lost a torchbearer.”

WHO WAS TENDAI NDORO?

Tendai Ndoro, born on 15 May 1985 in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, rose to become one of Africa’s most accomplished strikers. He launched his professional career in 2011 with Chicken Inn in Zimbabwe, quickly gaining attention for his consistent goal-scoring.

In 2013, he moved to South Africa’s Black Aces but returned to Chicken Inn on loan for the rest of the season. Ndoro joined Orlando Pirates in 2015, where he made 60 appearances and netted 23 goals across top competitions.

Off the pitch, he was married to Thando Maseko, but they parted ways a few years ago.
