Former Kaizer Chiefs star ready to return back to Mzansi

Posted on February 17, 2026

A former Kaizer Chiefs defender is reportedly ready to return back to South Africa.

27-year-old defender Thatayaone Ditlhokwe left the Glamour Boys a year ago after securing a big move to Libya.

The Botswana star struggled to settle down at Al Ittihad and was loaned out to fellow Libyan side Al Shomooa a year into his blockbuster move.

Now, new reports suggest the talented central defender is ready to return back to South Africa.

Update on former Kaizer Chiefs defender

Thatayaone Ditlhokwe made a name for himself at SuperSport United back in 2020.

He joined Matsatsantsa from home side Township rollers.

After three seasons in Tshwane, Ditlhokwe sealed a dream move to Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs.

Over the space of one-and-a-half seasons at Naturena, the towering defender made 32 appearances for the Glamour Boys.

He was then on the move again, this time sealing another blockbuster move to Libyan giants Al Ittihad.

He made a strong start to life at Ittihad but was surprisingly loaned out to his current team Al Shomooa at the beginning of February.

Now, insiders close to the former Kaizer Chiefs star claim he’s ready to return to South Africa!

Ditlhokwe wants Mzansi return

“TT is also open to the idea of playing here (South Africa) again. His time in Libya hasn’t really worked out as he would have wanted,” an insider close to the former Kaizer Chiefs defender told Citizen.

“Before he was loaned out by Ittihad, several clubs in South Africa also enquired about him. However nothing concrete materialised.”

The publication went on to name Stellenbosch as a possible next club.

Ditlhokwe previously worked well with Gavin Hunt and could be a top signing for them going forward.
