Five best Kaizer Chiefs players this season

Posted on November 27, 2025

Kaizer Chiefs are looking sharp this season with new players after struggling to finish in the top eight for two consecutive years.

After ending last season in ninth place, Amakhosi made significant changes by signing 11 new players to strengthen their squad.

While some of these signings have made a positive impact, many are still trying to find their footing or get enough game time. Players like Nkhanyisa Shinga, Luke Baartman and Ethan Chislett are yet to make their debuts for Chiefs.

Nasreddine Nabi, who was appointed as the club’s head coach in July of last year, lasted only 14 months before being dismissed. His assistants have since stepped in as co-coaches for the remainder of the season.

Under the guidance of Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze, the team has shown glimpses of brilliance, especially in the Betway Premiership.

Here are five players who have impressed for Kaizer Chiefs:

Brandon Petersen

The 31-year-old goalkeeper has only conceded six goals this season. After being sidelined for much of the 2024/25 campaign, Petersen returned to play in the final of the Nedbank Cup, which Chiefs won 2-1. He has since become the team’s first-choice keeper.

Bradley Cross

The 24-year-old left-back has been consistent this season, earning him a call-up to the national team.

Sibongiseni Mthethwa

Nicknamed “Ox,” Mthethwa has excelled in midfield this season. He has been one of the standout players for Kaizer Chiefs under the new coaching duo, effectively breaking up opposition attacks and protecting the defence.

Flavio Silva

Silva has made a significant impact by scoring four goals in fewer than seven matches across all competitions, making him the team’s most effective attacking player at the moment.

Mduduzi Shabalala

Mdu has showcased his talent this season, even though he has struggled with consistency at times. In recent matches, he has been one of the team’s best players, contributing both goals and assists.
