Cape Town City and DR Congo international defender Nathan Idumba Fasika has made a surprise move to Chippa United.
Fasika, 26, has looked poised to leave City since their relegation from the top-flight was confirmed despite recent hopes of a return due to court room battles that made headline in the Premier Soccer League last week.
Now that it’s been confirmed that City will be plying their trade in the second-tier, despite the impressive transfers of Sifiso Ngobeni, Micky van Hart, and Simon van Duivenbooden, exits were always going to be natural.
Several senior players left the club which included Darren Keet, Thami Mkhize, Fortune Makaringe, Thabo Nodada, Elson Sithole, Darwin Gonazalez, Kamohelo Mokotjo and Haashim Domingo.
Fasika has now agreed personal terms with Chippa, after the two club’s reached a club-to-club agreement, as he joins Aprocious Petrus to be sold in the past few weeks – after his move to Sudanese giants Al Hilal.

He now departs the Citizens after four years since his arrival in South Africa when he joined from St Eloi Lupopo – while he also spent a season on loan in Norway with Vålerenga.
