Fans react to Pirates beating Sundowns AGAIN!

Posted on August 23, 2025

Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Sipho Chaine was the hero once again as the Buccaneers defeated Mamelodi Sundowns 4-1 on penalties in the MTN8 semi-final second leg on Saturday.

After the first leg finished 1-1 at the Orlando Stadium, fans expected drama in the second leg and were not disappointed at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.

Masandawana came into the match with an advantage by virtue of an away goal. It took them less than 20 minutes to find the opener. Iqraam Rayners found the net after Pirates failed to clear their lines.

Sipho Chaine saves Pirates

The Buccaneers had to dig deep in the second half as they did in the second half. Kamogelo Sebelebele, who scored in the first leg, was once again on target, scoring the equaliser. Neither of the two teams found the winner and penalties were needed to separate the two sides.

Sipho Chaine saved two penalties to lead the Buccaneers into the final for the fourth consecutive time. The Pirates keeper also kept Downs out in the final of the MTN8 against Downs in 2023.

How good is Chaine?
