Exclusive: Pirates Set To Make Decision on Shandu

Posted on January 20, 2026

Orlando Pirates are currently engaged in discussions with Bandile Shandu’s representative, Mike Makaab, concerning the player’s future.

Shandu’s contract with the Buccaneers is set to expire at the end of the season.

This marks the sixth season the 31-year-old has spent with Ezimnyama Ngenkani, having joined the club from Maritzburg United at the start of the 2021/22 campaign.

While he initially arrived as more of a midfielder, he has spent much of his time at Pirates operating in the right-back position.

Shandu has racked up 110 appearances in Pirates colours, netting 11 goals and registering five assists in the process.

Makaab confirmed that discussions with the Sea Robbers over Shandu’s future are ongoing and they would know what would happen soon.

“Bandile, his contract is expiring at the end of the season,” Makaab told iDiski Times.

“But I’m engaged in discussions with Orlando Pirates. Next week [this week], we’ll know exactly where we stand.”
