Exclusive: Chiefs Home Venue Vs Zamalek Revealed

Posted on November 12, 2025

Polokwane Municipality have confirmed to iDiski Times that the CAF Confederation Cup match between Kaizer Chiefs and Zamalek will be hosted at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.

The two sides will renew old rivalries in Group D alongside another Egyptian side Al Masry and ZESCO United of Zambia.

Amakhosi booked their place in the group stage after defeating DR Congo side AS Simba 3-1 in the second preliminary match.

The 2025/26 season is the first time Chiefs are playing in inter-club competition since the CAF Champions League campaign in 2021 where they reached the final.

Meanwhile, Sport and Recreation manager at Polokwane municipality Mantlako Sebaka confirmed the developments exclusively to this publication.

“Having hosted the FIFA World Cup qualifiers, we are here again hosting CAF inter-club matches,” Sekaba told iDiski Times.

“We can confirm that Kaizer Chiefs is going to be bringing in Zamalek all the way from Cairo or from Egypt.

“The game is scheduled to take place on 29 November at 15:00 and the tickets are going to be sold at Computicket for R80 only for such a big international match.

“Depending on the availability of the facility we have an extended relationship with Kaizer Chiefs, the same way we have an extended relationship with Sekhukhune United.”

Sekaba also confirmed that they would be open to also host Chiefs’ match against Zamalek’s countrymen Al Masry at the same venue.

“So should there be a need, should there be an opportunity [to host Al Masry] we are likely to take that with both hands,” he added.

The 2010 FIFA World Cup venue will also host the Carling Knockout Cup final between Orlando Pirates and Marumo Gallants on 6 December and Sebaka admits these are exciting times for the municipality especially from an economic boost perspective.
