Ex-Kaizer Chiefs winger dismisses St-Eloi Lupopo

Posted on November 24, 2025

Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye didn’t mince his words after St-Eloi Lupopo’s 3–1 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns.

The outspoken pundit went as far as calling the Congolese side “a very weak team” and questioning how they even knocked out Orlando Pirates.

According to Khanye, Sundowns have simply exposed the gap between the sides. For Khanye, it was exactly what he expected.

Speaking on iDiski TV, Khanye insisted Lupopo never threatened Sundowns at any stage of the match.

“This Lupopo team is a very weak team, I’ll be honest. I don’t even know how they beat Pirates at home,” he said. Khanye also pointed out how Lupopo’s wing-backs pushed too high, leaving only two centre-backs exposed, a tactical gamble that Sundowns punished repeatedly.

In the former Chiefs winger’s view, any team that watches the footage will find easy opportunities.
“You are going to get teams who do analysis… who might not be threatening in the first half but come back to punish you in the second half,” Khanye explained.

Still, the outspoken analyst didn’t let Sundowns off the hook entirely. He concluded to say the goal they conceded was avoidable.
