Ex-Kaizer Chiefs coach and player wary of Pirates

Former Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane is wary of a new look Orlando Pirates ahead of the new Betway Premiership season.

The current AmaZulu head coach has been impressed with new Bucs mentor Abdeslam Ouaddou. The Moroccan joined the club in June and won his opening fixture against Polokwane City in the MTN8 last weekend.

“So, trust me, it’s still going to be tough to compete against this Pirates team, because they are building an identity,” Zwane told the media.

“The new coach has come in and is already doing well because he has continued where Jose left off. So, that’s how the game should be.

“There should be continuity. It’s what we are trying to build at AmaZulu as well; that’ll help so that even if I am not around.

“As coaches, we don’t stay too long for many reasons – whoever comes in competes and is able to produce and sell players,” Zwane concluded.

Both Chiefs and Pirates have stenghten their squad for this season as they look to challenge Mamelodi Sundowns for top honours. The Buccaneers brought in 12 players while their rivals Amakhosi only signed six players so far.

Can this finally be Orlando Pirates’ year or will Sundowns dominate once again?
