Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos and his technical team have earned lavish praise from former assistant coach Arthur Zwane.
The AmaZulu head coach, speaking at the Betway Premiership event at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Thursday afternoon – spoke glowingly after Bafana’s qualification for the FIFA World Cup.
It’s the first successful qualification campaign since the 2002 edition that took place in Korea/Japan, and credit is due to Broos – whom Zwane admits, made sweeping changes – following the brief tenure with Molefi Ntseki.
“We have to be proud as a nation, to have our national team qualify for the World Cup, it doesn’t happen quite often, but when it does, we should be very proud as a nation and when you look at the average age of the group that has taken us through, it’s amazing,” Zwane said.
“So, we’d like to thank Hugo Broos and his entire technical team for the amazing work they have done so far – we should be proud as a nation, look at the players that are there, many of them will have the opportunity to go participate at the next World Cup after this one.
“So, it’s amazing, a great feeling – it will change the lives of footballers in our country for the better – we needed this, we have so many talented players in this country, and we need our best to be tested at that level, so the game can grow in this country. So, thanks to SAFA and coach Hugo Broos.
“Everyone wants to win; we are so happy coach Hugo Broos has come in and made drastic changes for the positive and this is where we are today – we’re so proud.”
