Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou is recovering after a serious road accident, and his former English Premier League club, Fulham, has reached out with support.

The accident happened on the R21 highway as the Buccaneers returned from a 3-0 win over Chippa United in Gqeberha.

Orlando Pirates announced that Ouaddou and several colleagues were seriously injured after exiting their team bus to assist at another accident, when a Nissan NP200 collided with a stationary vehicle.

News of the incident sent shockwaves through football, prompting Fulham to post a message on X: “Praying for good news, and sending our best wishes to Abdes Ouaddou and his colleagues at this time.”

Ouaddou, a French-Morrocan, spent four years at Fulham (2001–2005), making 38 appearances after joining from French club Nancy in August.

The football community continues to rally around the Orlando Pirates mentor, hoping for a smooth and speedy recovery for him and his injured staff.
